• Pastor James Jenkins was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 1, 1951.  He is the eldest of eight children born to James and Lillian Jenkins.  James and Lillian were saved at an Oliver B. Greene meeting in Bel Air, MD and immediately began attending church. Shortly thereafter, Pastor Jenkins accepted Christ as his personal Saviour in the pastor's study after church on a Sunday evening.  James attended Bob Jones University, Manahath School of Theology, and graduated from Liberty Baptist University.  He married his wife Carol in 1974, and has pastored Calvary Bible Church for over 30 years.  Pastor Jenkins and his wife have four sons: James, Michael, Timothy, and Benjamin.  Two of Pastor Jenkins's brothers are also pastors.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe in the verbal inspiration and authority of the scriptures.

  • We believe that God has preserved his word for English speaking people in the King James Version.

  • We believe that the Bible reveals God, the fall of man, the way of salvation, and God's plan and purpose in the ages.

  • We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

  • We believe in the deity, the virgin birth, and bodily resurection of Jesus Christ.

  • We believe that salvation is by Grace alone.  The conditions for salvation are repentance and faith.

  • We believe that men are justified by faith alone and are accounted righteous before God only through the merit of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Justification establishes an eternal relationship that can never be broken.

  • We believe in the visible, personal, and pre-millenial return of Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

  • Calvary Bible Church was established in the fall of 1979 by a group of six families who had undergone a fruitless search for an independent, fundamental, KJV, Baptist church in Lewis County, NY.  Pastor Jenkins was called to come and arrived in the spring of 1980.  Church services began in the home of Rodney Mashaw, who served as pastor until Brother Jenkins fulfilled his teaching contract at a school in Pennsylvania. Services then moved to the present church property, however the church building was not errected at that time and so services commenced in the Victorian house in which the Jenkins live.  By the spring of 1982, construction had begun on the church building that is used today.  Nearly all of the lot and building construction was done by church members.
